Community Space Design in MSquare Residences for AWR

Category: Play Area

Location: Al Mankool, Dubai

Design:

Designed by EXS Design, an integrated architecture and interior design firm in Dubai, the community space at MSquare Residences transforms the mezzanine floor into an engaging, multi-use zone that promotes wellness and recreation. The site layout was optimized with a perimeter walking and jogging track that defines the central play zone while encouraging physical activity. Play areas were thoughtfully divided by age and activity — a sandpit with tactile equipment for younger children and a weather-protected multi-purpose zone for older kids — ensuring inclusivity and safe engagement for all age groups.

Brand Image:

The client envisioned a space where children could play freely while adults could unwind within the same environment. EXS Design elevated this brief into a community-centric recreational hub that blends play, relaxation, and social interaction. The result is a design that not only supports wellness but also strengthens the sense of belonging among residents — a reflection of EXS Design’s expertise in community space and landscape design in Dubai. The overall environment fosters both activity and tranquility, enhancing the lifestyle identity of the residential development.

Sustainability:

Sustainability guided every design decision, from material selection to landscaping. Low-maintenance, climate-resilient plants were incorporated through pocket planters to ensure lasting greenery and reduced water consumption. Custom parametric seating provides ergonomic comfort and visual continuity while promoting natural social clusters within the space.
Durable EPDM flooring was used throughout — chosen for its resilience, easy maintenance, and safety features — with subtle color pops adding vibrancy and playfulness. The design not only enhances the project’s visual appeal but also reinforces EXS Design’s sustainable design philosophy in shaping modern, livable community environments.
